Elissa and Rodney's Elopement at the Inn at Weathersfield
There’s a certain rush of energy and excitement that I get during and after each elopement I’ve ever photographed. A big part of that feeling is getting to be the sole witness of a ceremonial marking of a relationship that has taken years to craft. The other part is having the good, solid, distraction-free time to spend getting to know a couple as we create photographs together.
Elissa and Rodney met ten years ago, at a neighborhood get-together for new residents. They opted for a stress-free, 100% low-key wedding by getting married at the sweetest inn in the Vermont countryside, just the two of them. I felt incredibly honored to get to spend the afternoon with them both, as they exchanged handwritten vows and shared glasses of champagne before heading out to the woods to take photos. By the end of the afternoon we were fast friends, sharing drinks and comparing stories of our families and sharing recommendations for their next day of adventures.
