Kelly and Seth's Kid-Friendly, Golden-Light Wedding in Worcester, Vermont

March and April in Vermont tend to be a mix of mud, unpredictable weather, early-emerging ticks, and shedding animals. Not often a beloved time to plan a wedding, but it can often be my absolute favorite time to photograph weddings, the golden light and the mix of snow and brown grass evoking a Wyeth-esque landscape.

Kelly and Seth planned on a ski-centered elopement with their two sons in mid-March at Mad River Glen, but when the morning of their wedding dawned, two of the four of them had come down with Covid. While they were bummed, as parents, resilience and go-with-the flow is embedded deep within them both. After they recovered from their illnesses, they set out crafting an equally fun and kid-friendly plan B.; This time, weather and immune systems were on their side, and as their kids played around them, Kelly and Seth said their vows in the midst of an apple orchard at their charming Airbnb in Central Vermont with views of the mountains behind them.

Kelly and Seth may win the award for the most laid-back couple I’ve ever met, and had no problem stopping the ceremony for snack breaks (complete with my favorite to-go drink, Capri Suns!) for their boys, and instructing them during photos afterwards to not jump in the giant mud puddles quite yet. As the parent of a three-year-old, I loved capturing the endless love they have for each other, and for their kiddos, and all the parenting reality moments in-between!
