Megan and Tad's Elegant Lakeside Wedding in New York and Vermont

Megan and Tad have lots in common, but my favorite is their mutual love of the same lake- Lake Champlain, that is. Both their families have deep ties to land and memories on either side of the lake, and most of the guests crossed the lake from New York to Vermont and back twice on the ferry throughout the celebrations of the day, getting ready in Essex, New York, attending the ceremony in Charlotte, Vermont (where Megan’s parents were married and Megan’s grandfather John lived and where Megan and her family spent summers), and celebrating afterwards at Tad’s parents’ home with a view of the lake in New York.

Megan and Tad’s wedding was also the first opportunity for their family to reconnect after a year and a half, so they made their wedding an intimate, all-inclusive, several day celebration, with bonfires, cookouts, and get-togethers to take advantage of all of their together-time. Their wedding was the grand finale, a simultaneously elegant yet laid-back affair, complete with food cooked over open fire by The Hindquarter, as guests wandered the exquisite gardens (which I thoroughly enjoyed, as an amateur gardener).
