Erica and John's Farmstead Baby Wedding Celebration in Tunbridge, Vermont

As Erica and John said their vows underneath the birch bark chuppah, holding their three-month-old baby, Jack, I couldn’t help but get a little emotional for a few reasons. Erica and John are our neighbors, living just two minutes from our house (which is a feat in itself, as we live in the middle of nowhere), and have become our friends in the past year, becoming favorite people to see at the local farmers market, at the fair, and at each other’s houses. The barn they and their guests gathered in for their wedding and baby naming ceremony, a stately beacon nestled between the hills, was designed and the timber frame built by Jeff, designed this winter, cut this summer, and raised in August. The railings and stairs were installed days before the wedding, and the smell of fresh hemlock permeated the ceremony on Sunday morning when the barn was filled with people for the very first time.

Erica and John are masters at creating and nurturing friendships, and are seldom seen without a few friends by their side. Their baby wedding weekend was a way to introduce many of those friends to the home and farm they’ve created in Tunbridge, and for their friends, a way to express and reciprocate the love that Erica and John have showed them over many years. Guests enjoyed a welcome BBQ in their backyard Friday night, danced through the night at their party on Saturday, then settled down for the ceremony on Sunday morning, followed by a brunch, goat milk gelato, and pony rides for everyone!
