Kim and Charlie's Metalhead Wedding by the Lake at Lake Bomoseen Lodge in Bomoseen, Vermont

I spent four hours with Kim and Charlie on Friday to photograph their intimate wedding at the Lake Bomoseen Lodge and it made me remember how much fun I always have at intimate weddings. It also helped that Kim and Charlie are likely the chillest couple in all of wedding history. Even with their super laid-back attitude about all things wedding, each detail came together smoothly. I especially loved all the nods throughout the day to Kim and Charlie’s love of metal music- song lyrics in their ceremony, Kim’s leather jacket with “till death” painted on the back, their recessional song, and Kim’s getting ready playlist of her favorite heavy and folk metal artists which she said “calms me down” as she expertly applied her makeup.

Kim, Charlie, and I hung out for an hour after their wedding to roam around the forests and shoreline around Lake Bomoseen, and had such a wonderful collaborative experience making photos together. I wanted to show Kim and Charlie’s open affection while bringing an edgy vibe, and they said “absolutely!” to everything I asked them to do. Intimate weddings give me time to try something different image-wise and get to know a couple even more closely, and Kim and Charlie felt like the closest friends by the end of the night.
