Christina and Jon's Wildflower-Inspired Wedding at the Whiteface Club and Resort in Lake Placid, New York

Many thanks to my second shooter Abby Allaire- who I had a super fun weekend with all around Lake Placid!

Weddings are a time for reflection and a way to express gratitude towards the couple getting married. Families and friends craft speeches that highlight the accolades and favorite memories of the people they’re celebrating getting married, and it’s a great way for me to get to know a couple even better as I’m photographing their celebration. I’ve never enjoyed hearing about a couple more than I did at Christina and Jon’s wedding this Saturday. Friends loved regaling the crowd of the hand-made cedar strip canoe Christina and Jon built and paddled down the Potomac River following their college graduation, and the art parties they held at their homes. Christina and Jon’s families expressed their love for all the adventures the couple continues to take them on. And in the eight hours I spend with them, I could not stop smiling.

Lake Placid has always been a special place for Christina’s family, who have been coming up to spend many happy times at her grandparents’ home right on the Lake. Their ceremony, which was held in the backyard where she grew up playing with her brothers, was surrounded by midsummer flowers and featured many of their favorite people who wrote blessings to send them off in their marriage together. Following the ceremony, most of the guests opted to skip transportation to the Whiteface Club and resort, and instead followed Christina and Jon in an impromptu parade to the cocktail hour.

There were so many favorite things about this wedding, including Christina’s dress, the flowers from Little Farmhouse Flowers (this flower nerd was dying to witness Linda + team’s creative alchemy, and it didn’t disappoint!), and of course, the beautiful connection of Christina and Jon, who wear their love for each other on their sleeves!
