Emily and Lish's Dog Friendly Backyard Wedding in Montgomery, Vermont

A giant thanks to my dear friend John Tully, who absolutely knocked it out of the park this week working with me at Emily and Lish’s wedding- many of these images are his.

I think the best way to describe Emily and Lish as a unit is Approachably Badass. Once you’ve easily sprung into conversation with them, they’ll regale you with tales of their last-minute biking trip across the country during COVID, or of drinking games on a fishing vessel off the Alaskan Coast. With this in mind, I was not surprised in the least when after her dress was covered in muddy dog paws, grass stains, and even a drop of someone’s blood, Emily was not upset, she was delighted!

Emily and Lish chose to get married in their backyard, which also happens to have a jaw-dropping view of Jay and the surrounding mountains, which were covered both in brilliant fall colors, and the first snowfall of the year as they said their vows. I loved exploring their house and property, capturing their personality, their dogs, and all the fun things they brought to their wedding, including thrift store mugs as drink cups, random objects they found in the barn after they bought their house, and the wagon rides that ferried guests up the hill.

Two other things I want to note that were unforgettable: 1. Emily’s mom made an exquisite array of miniature pies for Emily and Lish’s wedding, and I was so excited to see she included Shoo Fly Pie, my favorite kind of pie, and one I had at my own wedding. It was delicious! 2. Emily and Lish hired a band near and dear to their heart, the Medallions (the drummer is a friend of theirs!) and they were incredible to listen and dance to!
