Grace and Tatum's Dance-Filled Early Spring Elopement in Pomfret, Vermont

In the same week that Grace and Tatum were married, they also moved into their new home in Pomfret, Vermont- an exciting and memorable week! Instead of choosing to photograph their actual ceremony, they wanted to focus more on portraits and photos celebrating their life in their new place.

I’ve gotten to know Grace and Tatum over the past month, and it quickly became apparent that our friendship was destined to last far beyond their wedding- not only do they live 25 minutes from me, which in Vermont means we’re practically neighbors, but I found it easy to talk with them about everything for hours, and let’s be honest, they are seriously the sweetest.

Because their wedding falls in our quietest season, I had even more time to prepare for this session, and spent lots of time looking at Andrew Wyeth paintings, as he often painted in this “shoulder season” that sits between winter and true spring. I also had plenty of time to talk to Tatum and Grace about their own inspirations. For Grace, who is a dancer, movement is an important part of her life, so I spent plenty of time photographing the couple in motion, where they seemed to shine the brightest.

For me, this was a wonderful way to start off the spring season, with new friends, warm sunshine, and champagne!
